What does "Adult Child" mean?

"Adult Child" is used to describe those who grew up in homes where basic needs to feel safe, seen, heard, and loved may not have been met. As adults, they bring thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors they developed to survive growing up in those environments into their relationships, careers, and decision-making.
